Doyle, Sir Arthur Conan / Escritor
The story consists of two parts. The events that happened to the main character are removed in time: our beloved Sherlock unravels the first story, well, and the second unfolds without his participation. Each chapter contains its own separate story: the first is a classic detective story, and the second contains a lot of action and is even scary to read in places!
In the first part, Holmes is sent to investigate a brutal murder, led by a tip that Moriarty is involved in the case. At first glance, everything is both simple and too complicated, and even the Scotland Yard inspector, wringing his hands, repeats twice that the crime will never be solved.
The key to this story is the second part. Here we see Conan Doyle as a brilliant researcher of the social aspect of crime.
The second part sends us back twenty years from the first and tells about life in a small valley, the inhabitants of which are terrorized by a gang of bandits formed from the Masonic lodge. Murders, beatings almost in broad daylight, racketeering and not only - the attackers do not shun anything and do not feel any particular remorse. A dark shadow hangs over the valley, and the clouds are only gathering... And it is here that the main character arrives, who is unexpectedly not Holmes...
