What is the geography of development: a restricted study of the so-called “Southern” countries; or rather a theoretical approach to the territorial mechanisms of development, its processes and its socio-economic results? The new world balances such as social and environmental emergencies invite us to rethink this approach. The aim of this book is to shift the perspective and to think about globalisation differently, from a Southern angle.
This book is composed of four parts: following a first part dedicated to the inheritance of development, it addresses the major processes of globalisation of the South and their internal socio-spatial dynamics. Finally, it questions their place in the world today, through new typologies. This book is illustrated with many unique maps, charts and precise examples in the form of boxed text.
